How far in advance should I book in?

My timeslots can fill very quickly, so I recommend booking your photoshoot in at least four to six months in advance to avoid disappointment. If your desired date is unavailable, I will always try to work out a solution for you.

When do you recommend I do my Maternity session?

I recommend booking your maternity session between 32-38 weeks gestation. However, it does depend on you, and how you’re feeling. I want you to be completely comfortable while celebrating the miracle of your body. So, if you’d like to book outside of my recommended times, that’s no issue – just reach out to me and we can chat about it.

How old should my baby be for a newborn session?

We want to capture your bub earthside as early as possible. So, I would recommend contacting me while you’re pregnant and planning a photoshoot for when your newborn is 2-3 weeks old. However, I understand becoming a mum is a big change and I want you to feel ready, not rushed to do the photos. I want you to enjoy the process so please when you feel ready as a mum then I’m ready for you.

What is your style of photography?

My style is artistic, candid and documentary with minimal posed photography. That means I capture all the raw, genuine moments as they naturally occur. That being said, I will still give you guidance on how to interact with each other throughout the session to help represent your story as authentically as possible.

How do I book?

To book in your photo session, head to my booking page and complete the booking form. To secure your booking date, I require a $200 non-refundable deposit and a signed photography agreement.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, all my photography sessions require a $200 non-refundable deposit to secure the booking date. This amount is deducted from the overall package cost, and the remainder of the balance is due the day of your photo shoot. I will send you an invoice for this amount, which you can pay electronically before the session or using cash on the day – whatever suits you!

Do you charge a travel fee?

Yes, I charge a small travel fee if I have to travel out of the Illawarra region. This is a case-by-case basis depending on how far I may have to travel

How long does it take to receive the images?

You will receive a preview of your images within 48 hours of your photoshoot. Your digital gallery will then be ready within 4 weeks of your photoshoot or earlier depending on workload at the time. However, you won’t receive your images until payment is made in full.

How many images do I receive?

You will receive 80-120+ of your wonderful images from the day via a private digital gallery. This gallery includes high resolution and web resolution images as well as a personalised slideshow of your photos. This way, you get to keep your precious memories forever.

There is no extra charge for images. You receive all images from the day even if that means going over 120. They're your special memories and I believe in you getting to have them all.

What do we do if it is raining or stormy?

I will check in with you a few days before your session to discuss the weather. If it’s looking dreary, I’ll make a call on the day as to whether the session will go ahead, or not and if we need to change the location. If your session can’t go ahead because of the weather, we will reschedule it.

What time will my session be?

Generally, my outdoor sessions occur around sunrise or sunset so that we can make the most of the soft golden lighting. If your session is indoors, we will chat about what time will be best for your session depending on the type of photoshoot. I realise that those times may not suit everyone, and I will always be happy to provide an alternative for you.

What should I/we wear?

There are no official rules for what you should wear – I want you to feel completely comfortable throughout your session. However, I do have some hot tips when it comes to photoshoot outfits:

  • Neutral tones suit my photography style

  • Dress for the weather – remember to rug-up when it’s cold!

  • For family photoshoots, try and get everyone to look cohesive, no loud prints are ideal

  • Check out my Instagram page for outfit inspiration if you’re stuck

  • For maternity shoots, it’s completely up to you how much you want to show, or not. I understand the changes happening to your body and know how vulnerable it can be to show it.

If you’re seriously not sure what to wear - I've got you covered! All my photoshoots include a complimentary client wardrobe if you should need it. At this stage I've got clothing options for mums only. If you're interested in seeing my wardrobe selection, let me know when you book in.

Who can attend my session?

Generally, only the people being photographed should attend your session. That means couples only for engagements, and immediate family only for family sessions. If you have extras joining in your family session, I offer an extended family shoot option. But, if you need a helping hand to take care of your little ones during your photoshoot, that’s absolutely okay. However, your helpers are there solely for behind-the-scenes assistance. If you’re not sure – ask! We can sort it out.

Do you provide raw files?

My photography is my art. I hand select all the images in your gallery and meticulously edit them for you to treasure forever.

Where will my session take place?

If you’ve got a location in mind – let me know. I especially love to try new locations all the time! It’s important to choose a location that is authentically you, so you’re 100% comfortable on the day. Most of my sessions are within the Illawarra and South Coast area, but I do travel outside of this area for a fee.

What if I feel awkward in front of the camera?

The most important thing about your photoshoot is your comfort. You can expect a warm, energetic, and friendly photographer who will get to know you as a close friend. This way, you will feel comfortable and natural during your session.

As a mum and wife, I understand how hard it is to take photos with toddlers, teenagers, fiancés, husbands, and children of all ages in between. So, I am willing to sing as many Wiggles songs as necessary to get the perfect photo.

Can I edit the images you give me before I post them on social media?

Images supplied by Lea and Lens Photography are in no way to be manipulated or edited when shared on social media. When you book a session with me, you are signing up for beautifully crafted memories that carry my signature style. I promise you your photos have been edited for hours and hours before they make their way to you, so no filters or edits are required before you share them on your feeds.

Can I request that you don’t share my images on your website or social media?

Your privacy is of the utmost importance to me. If you need your photos to stay away from my website or social media pages, please let me know and the answer is yes. I understand!

Can you photoshop ________?

To put it shortly, no. My images are edited with a soft editing style as seen in my portfolio of works. My style of work and photography doesn't include hard editing such as photoshopping major corrections. Only minor corrections and editing will be completed such as blemishes on the skin.

Do you back up your images?

Yes! Your memories are safe with me. I back up all my images to make sure that none of your images are ever lost.

Can we include our fur baby?

Absolutely! Our pets are part of the family too. Just let me know before your photoshoot, so I can make sure we go to a dog friendly area.

What happens if I cancel my photography session?

If you cancel your photography session, you will lose your secured booking date and we will cancel your session. Your deposit is also non-refundable, so you can’t get it back if you cancel. In special circumstances, such as illness, unforeseen weather, and other extreme situations, we can talk about rescheduling your session, rather than completely cancelling it – so that you still get your precious memories captured.

Words can’t describe how bloody lucky we are to have found Lea to shoot our wedding. I was sold just from her profile alone but Lea herself is an absolute angel. From making us all feel so comfortable all day but most of all we were smiling and laughing and forgot we were even getting our photos taken. Our family will be forever clients when little McGuirks come along
I honestly could not recommend her enough and will forever be praising her when looking at our photos
